Email from Verna’s daughter. Jan 21, 2010
What a wonderful morning today. I arrived at the home and was stopped by so many people saying mom was up and that she wanted to go to the program room to hear the band. She does not usually go anymore so I was shocked! It turned out that the Uke Band was there, I did not remember! She did-- and told the girls to get her up for it! Her ability to talk is limited now but when I asked her if she wanted to stay about 1/2 way through, she said Yes!Yes!. Some of her old friends came to say hello, Betty Moon, Ken, Bill, Martha, Emma, Nell, etc. Her eyes told the whole story and then when I got her back in her room to lay back down she said "Good" and "Happy".... On this day, she was made happy for a little while and I was so appreciative. Ken acknowledged her as an old member and she blinked her eyes and smiled. The songs were so special (I know everyone of them) and she could relate. As I left her today, it was with a lighter heart myself and felt blessed by the joy of seeing the band perform.
God is good and he sends blessings when we least expect them. Hugs, Linda
